Summer at North Branch

Things are buzzing at North Branch. We are busy decorating Ladybug Lane with leaves placed by children who have come in to play the summer reading game. Children are participating in the game with a conversation, canvas, or critique, many of which are currently displayed in the library. While here, they may take time to search for the bugs that are scattered around the library or to draw a giant insect attacking the city.

In addition we have registered story times: Book Babies (1 year olds), Time for Twos, and Rambunctious Twos as well as story time and craft with Ginger Jean the Storybook Queen. Day camps and an ESL class are also visiting the library.

Adults are talking about books with staff and participating in our monthly book discussion on the last Thursday of each month. This month's book is The Attack by Yasmina Khadra.

And, of course, we have patrons using the internet and other reference tools available on the library's homepage as well as through our wi-fi connection.

We have a small collection of juvenile and feature films on dvd that should appeal to families. We hope to add some adult dvd's soon.

Coming in the next few weeks is a computer for use by juveniles only. It will provide access to websites that will help children study, read, and play games.
